In Andrew’s last 8 years with the DWF he also headed up the banking, finance and debt recovery teams leading to a large amount of legal work and interaction with lenders. Andrew is a former managing partner of DWF’s Manchester office.

Jonathan is a director with Leonard Curtis Legal based in London. He has extensive experience as a solicitor specialising in corporate and commercial law and passion for providing down to earth pragmatic legal advice and getting deals done. He has 20 years’ broad and practical business and management experience, including 12 years as a Partner and Head of Department at a top-tier regional law firm in Kent, and also as a private investor, advisor, and Non-Executive Director.
Jonathan has particular expertise in mergers and acquisitions and specialises in advising owner-managed businesses across a wide range of sectors on corporate transactions.
Throughout his career, Jonathan has been recognised as a technical leader in his field. Prior to joining Leonard Curtis Legal, he received recognition in the legal directories for his work at his previous firm, including top rankings by Chambers & Partners each year between 2017 and 2020.
Katharine is a Director at Leonard Curtis Legal based in the Manchester office and is Head of the Dispute Resolution team. She joined from an International Law firm where she spent 28 years specialising in all aspects of Business Restructuring, 18 of those years as a partner.
Katharine has acted for a wide range of stakeholders including directors, companies, banks and office holders in all types of distressed situations and sectors. Her expertise lies in contentious work and assisting her clients to resolve their disputes in an efficient and pragmatic way. Katharine is an experienced litigator, known for her technical ability but with a common sense and commercial approach. Whilst her focus is on advising her business clients Katharine’s background and expertise means that she will also support the wider Leonard Curtis Group with traditional insolvency disputes.
Paula is a Director with Leonard Curtis Legal and has over 20 years’ experience in advising owner-managed businesses and entrepreneurs on a wide range of issues including investment and shareholders’ agreements, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions.
Paula has worked with charities throughout her career and has advised on a wide range of issues including advising on charitable status, drafting governing documents, assisting with registration, governance, mergers, fundraising, secured lending, trading issues including the use of trading subsidiaries, charity commission investigations and trustee duties.
Paula has extensive experience in advising partnerships and LLPs and is the author of The Limited Liability Partnerships Handbook (3rd Edition) (Bloomsbury Professional) and contributes on partnership law to the Accountant’ Legal Service (Tottel). Paula’s experience includes advising on partnership agreements, governance, incorporation, mergers and acquisitions, de-mergers, retirement and expulsion.
Laura is a Senior Associate within our Corporate and Commercial team. A solicitor with over ten years’ experience in both corporate and insolvency matters, Laura previously spent the last nine years of her career at an international law firm and has dealt with all aspects of issues faced by a business throughout its lifecycle.
Laura’s experience includes a range of local, national and international non-contentious business support and advisory work. She regularly advises directors, shareholders and businesses across a broad spectrum of issues including acquisitions, sales, restructures, shareholder agreements, joint ventures and commercial contracts. Laura has worked across a wide range of sectors including the financial, manufacturing, retail, property and tech industries.
Rachael is a Senior Associate within the Corporate and Commercial Team based in the London office. She qualified as a solicitor in 2009 and went on to specialise in business restructuring, insolvency and general business advisory work.
Rachael spent four years within a large Australian restructuring and accounting practice managing a variety of insolvency appointments, trading businesses and selling assets across industries such as mining, retail, construction, and financial services. She returned to the UK in 2016 to continue her legal career. Her experience gives her an in-depth understanding of the broad challenges that businesses may face during their lifecycle and how businesses operate.
Rachael supports the Leonard Curtis group with legal work on a wide variety of insolvency appointments, including distressed sales of businesses and assets, court appointments, security reviews, investigations into historical conduct and property issues.
Rachael also undertakes a variety of external legal work for SME business clients such as reviewing commercial arrangements, drafting commercial contracts including shareholder agreements and assisting the corporate team on mergers and acquisitions.
Rachael regularly works with accountants and their clients. Her aim is to add value and give clear and practical advice on a variety of issues they may face.
Alicia Renshaw is a Senior Associate at Leonard Curtis Legal within our Manchester office, having previously worked at DWF Law LLP for the past 14 years.
Alicia has 15 years’ experience in real estate. She is a versatile lawyer specialising in all aspects of commercial property work including acquisitions, disposals, commercial leases (from both and landlord and tenant perspective) and asset management.
Alicia is also experienced in real estate finance and distressed property transactions, both residential and commercial, having acted for first and second tier lenders and variety of finance clients including mortgagees, LPA receivers, financial institutions appointed as personal representatives and trustees and insolvency practitioners.
Jenny has over six years in-house commercial experience. Having previously worked for a large IT software and solutions provider to the public sector, she developed a varied commercial knowledge, including contract, disputes, procurement, and general department and business support.
Gemma joined Leonard Curtis Legal Limited in 2019 and has over 10 years’ experience dealing with a range of commercial disputes on behalf of individuals and companies including contractual disputes, shareholder disputes, contested debt claims and applications for injunctive relief. Gemma also has experience advising on claims arising out of company insolvency and bankruptcy and breach of directors’ duties.
Gemma has spent time both in private practice and in-house.
Gemma works alongside her clients to try to resolve disputes in the most pragmatic and cost-effective way.
Sherrelle is an Associate within our Corporate and Commercial team. She provides general day to day corporate and commercial advice to a wide range of companies and individuals and has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, management buy-outs, reorganisations and private equity transactions (acting both for investors and management).
Sherrelle has experience across various sectors within retail, education (including regulatory), e-commerce, manufacturing, property and technology industries.”
Helen is a Paralegal in the Dispute Resolution team having joined Leonard Curtis Legal in 2019. She assists the solicitors in the team on a variety of different dispute and litigation matters. Helen has over 6 years’ experience in the legal sector with a particular specialism in debt recovery. She is also currently studying the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx.) course.
